Jennifer Saunders talks about her menopause.
Jennifer’s menopause was triggered by a medical procedure.
After a six-month course of chemotherapy in 2009 to treat breast cancer, Jennifer was given tamoxifen, which blocks oestrogen and throws the body into menopause.
“It’s fairly brutal and you go through all the accompanying side effects” she says. “Hot flushes, weight gain… a sense of mourning for your lost youth, sexiness and somehow the point in anything.”
Jennifer, 58, became depressed and it was thanks to best friend Tanya Byron that she sought help. She was prescribed the antidepressant Citalopram and hasn’t looked back. “It was brilliant,” she says.
Anyone else had success with Citalopram?
